Well I have had my 2022 ST for one week now. I have 600km on it, 450 of those are on the highway. I came from a 2020 F150 Lariat with the 3.5. I'm not sure if anyone is gonna care, but here are my thoughts so far.

The positives: So far, overall, I really like the Explorer ST. It is a great looking vehicle. I got mine in black with the ST Street Package. It looks like it's going 200 km/h when its standing still. Ford did an excellent job of making an SUV that doesn't look like every other SUV out there. It looks sleek and modern. A nice touch. I find it rides just as good, if not a little better than my F150 did. It is quieter on the highway than the F150 was. And I find the seats as comfortable as the F150's. And this thing is fast! Much quicker than the F150 with the 3.5. I think the ST is going to stand for speeding tickets. I still wonder why Ford didn't put the 3.5 in here? But I digress. Steering is nice and responsive, without being twitchy. It handles very well and feels very stable. Lots of cargo space. Lay the second row seats down too and I think I have more square feet of area than the F150's 5.5 foot box. But even without the second row down I have more space than I am realistically am going to use. B&O sound system sound good. I would like a little more punch in the bass, but for a factory system it has good sound, I can definitely live with it. Overall the interior is well laid out, comfortable, and looks great.

The negatives: Lets start with the exterior. My F150 had the black out package which included blacked out Ford ovals on the front and rear. The ST's are blacked out too. So Ford why did you put chrome and blue ovals on this thing? While I'm on the topic of chrome, why the chrome lug nuts? I know I can buy black lug nuts and ovals. But at this price point I shouldn't have to. Another thing is the rear lamps. Here in Canada this unit had a list price of $69,000 CAD. That price and we still get incandescent turn signal, backup lamp, and license plate lamp bulbs? Seriously? Come on Ford. And while I'm on this price point rant, no heated windshield? Again, this is a $69,000 CAD SUV for crying out loud. As for the interior. I got mine without the Premium Technology Package. I would have like to have had the added options of that package but in my opinion the vertical 10 inch screen is hideous. It looks like they got my 3 year old grandson to come up with that design. Horizontal 10 inch screen? I'm all over that. But the vertical screen looks out of place, almost like it was an afterthought. Designers just stuck it on the dash and said f_ck it, good enough. The gauge cluster screen also seems like a design afterthought. The speedo is on the left hand side. Why? In north America it has always been tach on the left, speedo on the right. And where are all the gauges? This is a sport SUV and the only gauges are fuel and temperature. A sport vehicle should have a full set of gauges on the screen. This is a twin turbo, where's the boost gauge? I wanna see the boost not just feel it. Also some kind of console between the second row captains chairs would have been nice.

I know some of the things listed here are minor gripes, but I just feel at the price we pay for these things Ford shouldn't be skimping. Buy an F150 at a similar price point and you get most of the things I bitched about. But like I said, I really like the ST so far and I don't think I will regret the purchase.

What do you all think? Am I just being too darned picky or do you feel the same?

I think the Blue Ovals and lug buts might be a little picky, of course I like the stock blue Oval and wouldn't really care about the lug nuts. Interior, I can see what your saying, the touchscreen design and instrument cluster could be better. Instrument cluster wouldn't bother me too much, just wish I could see a boost gauga.

The heated windshield was standard on the 2020's, then ford deleted it after that, along with a lot of other nice little convenience features.

They also had the middle row console before 2022. You should've bought a 2020! LOL

Our ‘21 ST had a sticker of $58,230. I’d have gladly paid 1% more for the silly parts they ”decontented”. I think this is quite shortsighted of Ford. The profit on that additional $580 would have been amazing.

My 2020 has been trouble free except for a a small paint defect covered under warranty. And I have 4 bolts in the rear end. Forgot, I did have the recall for the blue screen issue, not a big deal.

My 2020 has only had a few minor issues. Love all the extras the 2020's have
