Well I realize it's probably too late to add to this thread, but I just joined the forum so I'm really "late to the party". My opinion: early Explorers were a total disaster. Ford totally botched the launch of this vehicle, bad enough that it really affected Ford's stock price, and executives had to apologize. The Chicago plant is a train wreck; cars had to be shipped en masse to another facility in Michigan to get fixed, before they were sent to dealers. In terms of your car being a buyback, we all know that a consumer basically has to move heaven and earth to get a manufacturer to do that, and only after the dealer has tried over and over to do everything possible to fix the car, and often only after the buyer threatens legal action. If you buy a car like that, you need to have a plan as to what you're going to do that the previous owner and dealer couldn't figure out. In my opinion, it's a bad risk to take.
