Those Who Have Upgraded Turbos!

Hi All,
Just trying to get a feel for installation pricing, time and technique.
The one performance shop I contacted told me they would have to drop the subframe and engine to get to the turbos. Quoted a price just south of $2800.
I already had an ST owner tell me he paid only $500 for his install. What is your experience and is it really that involved?

I haven't done a swap on my Explorer, but have done swaps on other vehicles, and by virtue of its location, and everything in the way, it is going to be that involved. Many newer vehicles opt for dropping engine/tranny/subframe to do the bigger jobs.. Great if you have a lift or a way to get the truck that high up; a bit more challenging otherwise..

There is no way any shop is going to swap out your turbos for $500! The $2,800 is a more accurate cost.

Thanks for the hits! No way I have the provisions for a DIY. Just checked out a second shop and was quoted almost half the price of the performance shop at $1480.
