Tow package

Hi all,
Was looking for a little bit of information if anybody recently purchased a 2021 St with tow package? and was wondering why trailer control brakes is not included with that package according to my dealership, they said it was aftermarket item that was unavailable at this time , also will not install it for me.
Has anyone recently came upon this situation.
We will be receiving our Explorer in 20 more days.

Not sure I understand , dose class IV mean it comes with brake controller?
But yes it does say class 3 trailer package on my window sticker

No class 4 will simply tow more than class 3. I have a '21 with tow package as indicated by window sticker shown above. No trailer brake but honestly ya probably dont need one unless you're towing close to the max weight. I regularly tow about 3k lbs and tow/haul mode does a nice job of engine braking to assist in decel. Congrats on the new whip btw!

Great information thanks, my wife will only be towing her 16'airstream bambi around 2680 and her dog gear, ( she does agility) so she sould be fine without a break controller you say?

Trailer Brakes
WARNING: Do not connect a
trailer's hydraulic brake system directly
to your vehicle's brake system. Your
vehicle may not have enough braking
power and your chances of having a
collision greatly increase.
Electric brakes and manual, automatic or
surge-type trailer brakes are safe if you
install them properly and adjust them to
the manufacturer's specifications. The
trailer brakes must meet local and federal
regulations.
The rating for the tow vehicle's braking
system operation is at the gross vehicle
weight rating, not the gross combined
weight rating.
Safe control of towed vehicles requires
separate functioning brake systems for
vehicles and trailers weighing more than
1,500 lb (680 kg) when loaded.

Thanks we got the trailer end of summer and she did not like towing it with my F150, now she will have her Explorer

And you think a Explorer rated for 5600 pounds will be better then an F150 which is probably rated for more will be better? I suspect that the Explorer is going to have more side to side sway with the trailer behind it.

Let's hope so, we will find out after she put on at least 1000 miles on it, like ford recommends before towing anything.

Whats your f150 rated to tow? From what I see it's 5000 to 12000 pounds depending on year and model.

It's a 2002 and I believe its 10,000 towing capacity

If your specs are accurate, I think it'll tow it pretty well and better than the 02 F150 simply based upon tranny. That F150 was prolly running a 4-speed lol

I am at just short of 3000# ready to fish towing this boat. I have towed twice so far and I am impressed. Coming from a 2018 F-150 Limited and I really cant tell much difference
