Hey folks. New to the forum and new to the Explorer ST. WE shopped for about a month test driving every SUV ever made, well ever luxury/near luxury suv. Love the ST so far and today got my 21" wheels for it .
I mounted them , but cannot get it to recognize the new TPMS sensors. I followed the guide driving it for a couple of min, then doing the tpms learn procedure, but when it says let air out of the left front tire, I do that but never hear the horn. It was down to about 15psi and nothing. At first I thought it was too close to the old set of tires, so I moved it to the top of my driveway , about 30 ft away and did it again. Same . Is there something I have to do to get it to recognize the new sensors ?

Did you buy take off wheels from someone? Are you positive they have TPMS installed?
All you need to do is drive...they self calibrate. If they’re not I’d start looking at the sensors themselves, or lack of if that’s a possibility.

My experience with TMPS has been more driving than a couple minutes .
Sometimes 10-15 miles before proper operation.

I read somewhere that Ford uses 2 different frequency TMPS. If your new ones are Ford takeoffs that might be the problem. I recently switched to a set of takeoffs from another ST and they linked up within 5 minutes

Yes they are takeoffs from another st. I am going to go for another drive now that I moved the old tires to the basement and see if I have success.frustrating. I don’t get the tpms light so I feel like it is registering them but shows 40 when they are 35. Lowering doesn’t register either.
