I was sitting here thinking about our ST which is our second one and wondering why some aftermarket people haven’t designed a dipstick tube and dipstick that could make easy access to our trany’s. Doesn’t seem like rocket science. Being a little old and ocd it sure would be nice to switch to a aluminum larger capacity pan with a drain plug and have the ability to change the trany oil every 10,000 miles or so Too much time to think! lol. Looking above the dipstick I could see no room for a tube. I put a PPE pan with a drain. I drain and measure how much came out and put the same in and save the hassle of the dipstick next to the hot exhaust.

There is just no room to put one. As mentioned, either the PPE or the Mishimoto pan have a drain plug for easy fluid changes.

Thinking about this and thought one of those aftermarket companies could design a curved fill tube that screws into the nut threadings that hold the dipstick in.
Instead of the dipstick, a sensor that would show fluid level at the proper fluid temp would be great.

The best method is to use a fluid extractor.

Per the service manual it can be reused if not damaged. Keep in mind if you pull it off and it’s damaged you might be waiting a few days to get one.

Use a fluid transfer pump to pull as much fluid out of the fill hole before you drop the pan to lower the mess.

I use this one to drain the oil out of my jet ski. It empties it out (4 Quarts) in about a minute or less.

That’s a good idea. I usually use a hand pump but this would be ideal.

You just need to have a good battery hanging around or some jumper cables. Also, priming with fluid first helps preserve the life of the pump. Dry starts wear out the impellar quick.

I guess you can just swap the hoses to use it to fill with oil? Or can it be done electronically by a reverse switch?

It only pumps in one direction so you’d just reverse the hoses.
