Transmission Throttle Blip

I have a 2021 ST with 26k miles on it. Recently it's started doing a throttle blip when shifting gears. I've only noticed this in Sport mode and it's more prominent when I'm using paddle shifters.

Has anyone else experienced this or know if it was perhaps part of a software update?

Our 2020 always did it and our 2022 does it also. One of my favorite parts of the car. It will throttle blip harder in manual.

My 2020 never did this and my 2021 just started recently after a year and a half of driving. It's not a smooth/enjoyable blip either like you'd have with a Porsche or Ferrari...it's kinda rough. Wondering if the software started implementing it due to a transmission condition or driving habit.

Sounds more like a shift flare…which isn’t a good thing.

Was not familiar with that term...reading up on it that does around like what's happening.

Yah it shouldn’t do it roughly.

It wouldn't hurt to reset transmission adaptive learning. I usually doso with Forscan Lite iOS

Anyone experiencing a loss of power after taking foot off accelerator then getting back onto the accelerator - for example : cruising through a residential area and having to slow down and take your foot out of the gas and then getting back on the throttle and trying resume speed and NOTHING... wait a couple of seconds and then it has a small backfire from the exhaust and back to normal? I am not sure if it is fuel delivery or transmission related or maybe something else. Any ideas will help as I have had it back to both of the local dealers and they are at a loss, the changed the valve body and seems like that didn't help as it is still doing it.

The Dealership I go to has said they won't do it as there is no codes to confirm the problem and are awaiting Ford Engineers to get back to them for a path they can start down. I have also been told it maybe my cat back Borla exh.

Have this occur a couple times a month. I assume it is torque management to help the trans.

This happens several times while I drive it- even more noticeable when I’m in sport mode. Do you have any mods done?

Catted downpipes, intercooler, intake, lowering springs, ZFG 93 tune, super forged big brake kit.

Usually I’m pulling out then see a car and let off gas then hit it after car passes. Almost always hitting the gas right after letting off, like within a second, will result in a pause for about a second. Subconsciously I think I have changed my habits to avoid it.

Yes that is exactly whats happening to me. So I have been experimenting with Sport Mode and Manual shift, it is a considerable BOG- Pause and nose dives. It is like someone turned off the fuel when shifting up the gear and then dumped all the fuel back into the cylinders. Still no engine lights

I’m going to try spark plugs this weekend and try again to see if it smartens up, I will report findings.
Just replaced the spark plugs with the NGK and no difference. Still when driving and slowing down to go around the corner -roll the corner and get back into the throttle dead and then bogs and then backfires or pops from the right tailpipe and then look out as it is ready to rip!!

Sounds like it could be turbo lag. The backfire is from holding the throttle open and the air/fuel mixture not being completely used up in the engine so it builds up in the exhaust system and then ignites, causing a backfire.

That is exactly what it is doing. How does one fix the turbo lag? programmer-Tuner?

Maybe that studder is the transmission shifting into a lower gear. I know eco and normal mode has a very noticeable lag when I step on it. Sport mode alleviates that problem.
