After Thermal R&D exhaust and a cold air intake of your choosing, and I choose S&B, what tuning package do you recommend?

My performance shop says COBB.

What says ye?

Thanks

ZFG Racing is by far the most popular tune. Cobb has been getting some good reports also,
Have you installed or will be installing intercooler?

FYI cold air intake is a waste of money other then looks. ZFG with HP Tuners or Goosetuned with Cobb are the two go to tuners. A lot of stuff around here.

I use Goosetuned and I'm very happy with it! The drive ability when not getting on it has been amazing. Mine was tuned when I bought it with 5star with a SCT tuner and its night and day difference. Shifts smooth and is ready to take off when you smash the go go peddle. Very good communication and gets revisions of your tune back when sending logs within the hour! I have the stage two package which comes with an intercooler. I have downpipes and a thermal 3in exhaust coming this week and when it comes in, I can't wait to see and feel the power added. I currently have a FenFab V1 intake, with a Borla cat back. I'll be selling the catback when I get my new exhaust. The thermal comes with new flex pipes and all.

ZFG is another solid guy and helped me trying to get my PCM flashed due to the previous owner not leaving the SCT handheld in the car when they traded it in. He uses HP tuners and they are a great tuning platform as well.

Lots of posts about this in the Tuning forum. I have the ZFG DMS tune and love it. It's not the cheapest but it's nice being able to switch tumes with the turn of the dial. There are a lot of good reports about Goosetuned and he is more affordable. So, if you want the leader in tuning this platform and the ability to switch tunes, go with ZFG. If your on a budget and don't care about being able to have different tunes, go with Goose. They are both reputable tuners, just different. If you want more info about this check out the Performance Tuning forum and do some reading.

I believe ZFGs regular tuning (the same as Goosetuned is) is actually cheaper then Goosetuned, even the DMS tuning is not that much more expensive.

You're right except for the DMS tune. I just looked it up, and if I'm looking at it right, the Goosetuned is more than both of them. The ZFG standard tune looks to be $450 and the DMS is $700. The Goosetuned Stage 1/Stage 2 looks to be $945. Unless I'm missing something, ZFG is cheaper either way. I opted for the Stage 1 DMS which comes with an intercooler.

Just looked, Goosetuned is more expensive then all of them. That doesn't make any sense. I think it's because of the COBB unit, which is significantly more expensive (with less features too), then the HP Tuners RTD.

ZFG tune is cheap but it doesn't include the RTD its 1k for a tune and the device per ZFG Adam. Goosetuned price includes the tune and the cobb AP. They are about the same for stage packages.

You can purchase an HP Tuners for for around $350 plus $50 credit. Add that to the $450 basic tune and that's $850. About $100-200 cheaper then Goosetuned.

1600$ tune, device and intercooler add 300 for the DMS feature

Goosetuned is 1900 for their stage two package tune, device, intercooler and with two fuel maps. 93/E50
If you don’t mind returning to stock and loading the other tune wherever you switch fuels. The DMS allows you to switch with just the turn of the dial. They each have their pros and cons I guess. You can’t go wrong with either of them.

it takes 4 credits to tune the explorer so that's 200 bucks in credits, Adam ZFG is one of the main dudes there and that's his words its 1k after its all said and done for a tune and device plus the credits.

I didn't realize it took 4 credits. Learned something new.

Neither did I but since these cars have 4 modules I guess or something like that it takes 4 credits. Most vehicles take 2 or 3. I thought the same thing until I was told differently.
