Unexpected auto braking with nothing behind vehicle

Has anybody else experienced their car auto braking when there is nothing in the way.
Wife was pulling out of garage tonight and the auto braking feature engaged after a couple feet scaring the shit out of her naturally cause she does the same thing every day.

She tried again and same thing. She grabbed me with it still running and I tried and same thing. I wiped off the rear camera and each rear sensor (6 total) and no more issues.

seemed to work but figured I’d throw it out there to feel out of others have had similar issues. It was dirty but not muddy or obstructed.

I've had this happen with shadows and pavement markings on city parking lanes in the dark or rainy conditions especially.

Here in MN, with the sleet, snirt, and snow all over the back of my ST and I haven't had the issue except when I back in my garage a little too fast. I have had it happen backing down my sloped driveway when I get near the driveway/street seam, I think the sensors see the street as an obstacle relative to the slope of the driveway. I've just learned to slow down before approaching the street.

It was the weirdest thing. And the fact it did it to me supported the fact it wasn’t just my wife. She thought I parked in the driveway when I never park there and that she hit my work truck. I just found it odd that after wiping off camera lense and the six rear sensors it was not an issue anymore.

Mine does it occasionally if while backing into the garage I get too close to the side of the door opening.

Haven't had that happen to me with the ST yet.
But, the MKC I had before ,did it when it got dirty. Also the headlight dimmer sensor would get a bug on it and work erratic.

With the snow that we get up here in Northern Wisconsin I just get a warning that the sensors are not working, and the auto braking is not active.

Yeah, this is normal, our other brand vehicles also gave out warnings when the sensors were covered with snow and ice.
