Universal Garage/Gate Buttons

Heyyy! Has anyone successfully programmed the universal remote buttons on the visor? I have two remotes - 1 for my electric gate and 1 for my garage. It would be amazing if I can do away with those and program the universal buttons.

I tried clicking the remote & car buttons simultaneously to try and pair but it didn’t work. ... Any other suggestions?

Should work if your garage door opener is new enough. The trick on mine was getting the garage door opener very close to the visor buttons.

I couldn't get mine to program by using the remotes alone. Once I used the "learn" button on the opened itself it was easy.

Mine are programmed for our garage, my in-laws gated community, and their garage door. I do know on my garage and their garage door, I had to hit the learn button on the garage door opener to finalize the learning process.

I programmed mine to open my garage, it was pretty quick, but I also have a newer opener that I put in less than 2 years ago.

My garage is over 15 years old. But my electric gate is brand new. I’ll try hitting both buttons with the gate remote and see what happens...

Mine was quick to program on a very old garage door. You do need to make sure it is a HomeLink spec garage door opener.

Have been unsuccessful in programming mine. Have tried with remote and with learning button. My 2018 F150 Lariat programmed easily (same garage door opener). Have resorted to using a 3 button universal fob sold at Lowe’s.

Yep, followed those directions word for word. My opener has “rolling code” technology so might be the problem.

Mine has the rolling code as well and I just did what the manual said to do and it works

Security threat-don't use them. Thieves know these openers are built into many modern cars and likely activated. Get into the car, next they're in the garage with the door closed and out of sight and possibly with tools in your garage to now get into your house. This happened to my sister once. Now we just keep the tiny opener on the keychain so it's never left in the car.

Mine has the rolling code as well and I just did what the manual said to do and it works

Get into the car, next they're in the garage with the door closed and out of sight and possibly with tools in your garage to now get into your house. This happened to my sister once. Now we just keep the tiny opener on the keychain so it's never left in the car.

For that very reason I use the "lock button" on the inside the garage controller. Many do not realize it is even there...

Or they just use the remote that's clipped to the visor in cars that don't have it built in. This reminds me of the worry when GPS systems came out, crooks were going to get your home address and run right over because no one would be home. Garage remotes have been hanging from car visors for 50 years, nothing new or different here.

Think about it. Built in or clip on, you're providing thieves the easy means of entry into your castle. It's our family's discipline to never-ever have or leave these devices in the car. Not even while parked in the garage. The keys/fobs always go in the house.

Well sure there a security risk but they have been around for 50 years so it's not like the sky is falling all of a sudden because there built into the visor. Cars have had built in buttons or storage areas for years.

Simple me, a security risk that has been around for 50 years...is still that same security risk. We choose not to participate in making any thieves task any easier.

If I'm not mistaken, the remote buttons built into the visor do not work unless the key is in the car. Not much of a risk if you don't leave your key fob in the car.
