Until Ford finds a permanent solution you get new diff cover.

Let's see, you tune the car, add downpipes and exhaust and who knows what else. You boast on this forum on your trips to the dragstrip multiple times. Then, when something breaks you bitch and moan about Ford not covering this under warranty. You even lie about being tuned and how it happened, "accelerating away from a stoplight" because you don't think you should pay for broken parts. Then after Ford fixes it, you post a video bitching about it. And you claim to be active US Army- is that honorable conduct? Do you have any idea how narcissistic and manipulative you sound? And you only visit this site to post this to hawk some youtube channel? Are a few "likes" worth that much to you? Does this about cover it?

Oh, and I warned you all....https://www.explorerst.org/threads/...oom-from-emergency-auto-brake.2148/post-36529

So if someone has a tuned ST that runs 11.9's @ 114 mph, that they regularly run at the drag strip, that uses a launch chip, then the bolt will break.

Okay, now I'm pretty confident that my bone stock ST's rear bolt will be good for 100,000 miles. Not being snarky, just the truth.

People have broken the diff bolts on bone stock ST’s, not at drag strips.

I have run one 11.9. If you compare to other tuned ST’s with same mods Im on the slow side. If my engine or trans breaks I’m not taking it in to Ford to complain. The differential has been covered in a recall and has been acknowledged by Ford as a weak point . I also know for fact they fixed other ST’s that are tuned and modified.

People that mod their powertrain, pound on their car, break something, then expect ford to warranty it suck period. Never in my life have I though about warranty coverage on parts I have modded. I blew the motor in my CTSV at Road America. Was making 700HP at the wheels. Never did I even think about asking GM to cover it. Cost me $10K for a new motor.

The guy in the video is a whiney biatch IMO

The guy actually says something about how can my exhaust put pressure on that bolt ignoring the fact that he probably has 100 more HP than stock. It's not the exhaust causing the problem dumba$$ it's the extra HP and flogging.

Yes I understand that completely and thanks for the insult. They guy is still a whiney biatch crying about warranty on a modded vehicle. Bet he has the same attitude when he breaks his trans.

Those of us that are concerned about breaking things are spending the money to fix it ourselves even though Ford should be replacing the crossmembers on all ST's IMO.

For sure sometimes. If you are one in the same then I apologize. Had I known that I would have left out the whiney biatch part.

It isn't about being covered by a recall- which it wasn't at the time. Your own words convict you. You admit to getting angry at a service rep who is justifiably concerned about your mods. I guess you could have shown him the videos of your drag racing that you showed us. You didn't though. You LIE to them about your tune and mods in order to get a freebie fix. You admit to even trying to involve your wife in your lies. You snarkily observe that there are very few new cars on the lot of the dealer who eventually does you the ultimate favor of fixing the problem. Then, you post a video in which you complain about the fact that they only gave you a "new diff cover". You post a video to this site showing your lack of honesty, integrity and character. And then you resent being called a whiny beotch?

I’ll admit to being overly sensitive to the warranty issue. I have owned a tool, hoist, and crane company for 20 years. We’re talking expensive tools. I’ve had customers drill holes in a $10k valve body and expect me to warranty it. Then when I refuse they say they will pull all their business if I don’t fix it. Things like this have happened to me literally hundreds of times over the years.

The only warranty poaching I have done is putting a pipe wrench on a craftsman ratchet to break it because they had a no questions asked lifetime warranty.

Ford itself decided it was on them. They called me out for the modifications which I did not deny, supposedly the regional Ford guy used some device to read how many times my ST has been flashed(which is many) and gather some other information. They pushed it all the way to Detroit! They had my vehicle for over month. They again decided it broke due to a shitty part design.

Totally glad they took care of you for sure. Had it not been a serious safety issue with other explorers, my guess is the would have given you a much harder time and probably blocked your warranty. I didn’t want to deal with them which is why I have a 2 bolt cross member and fresh bolts sitting in my garage waiting for a spare weekend.

It bugs me that they know it is a problem but won’t fix it the proper way……with 2 bolts.

I personally think the dealer was right for fixing your rear end. They know the issue that is why they stopped selling new ones till fixed. Drag strip or not who cares its a ST not all owners will use it as a mini van most (I hope) will drive it to its full potential. If anything else broke I would not be mad if they said no! but nothing else broke so no issues.
just my nobody opinion.

Mod you car? Sure you should be responsible. But in THIS case, it's because Ford decided to go with the one bolt on our STs instead of the two bolt. How many two bolts have had this happen to them, modded or not? I haven't heard of a single case.

Zero to my knowledge.
