Back with another update....

So starter was approved and ordered. They get it in, open the box and they ordered the wrong one. Ordered a new one, that took a few days but came in yesterday. This morning they put it in. After it was done, they were driving it out of the shop to the parking lot and the coolant crossover tube under the intake manifold broke dumping coolant everywhere. Ordered a new one and gave me an eta of 10 days....they will have a better idea tomorrow if that is correct.

I have looked this up and see what it is but I don't see any mention here of this being a commonly failed item. I am at 60k miles on a 2020, not driven hard and it was purchased as a certified preowned.

I haven't approached the rental yet...but I still have it....nor did I ask on this being covered under my warranty (but I see no reason for it not to be covered.)

Aside from this episode, this thing has been mostly trouble free....but this sucks.
These guys sound like a bad joke! If anyone should ascertain the proper starter for this vehicle, it should be the stealership!
I would also make a case that the coolant tube broke when the Explorer was in "their" possession. That 10 day ETA better be because of a backorder. No way the repair should take anywhere near that long!

I've been following along another thread and this one while i've been chasing my own issue. Ford Pass App (I know) has been giving me notifications of vehicle going into battery saving mode constantly. Doesn't matter how long I drive or how often/days of the week. Finally picked up a battery tender and left that on overnight (roughly 10-12 hours). Battery fully charged after this very low voltage tender was left on it. Almost two weeks now I have not gotten a single notification from the vehicle and the weather has been <30 for the last week or more.

Not sure what that means but happy to throw on the tender every month for a day if that means the battery is ok. Never had issue starting the car. Just frustrating to loose access to the app for starting it when i'm out or getting ready in the morning.

How old is your battery? I have found with these that they tend to do weird things based on the battery voltage. Mine was even more of an oddity in that I never saw the battery saver message and never had any dtc or wrench lights pop up. There was a stored code for the starter that I listed previously but that never tripped the actual dtc light. Dealership is still confused on why it never tripped the actual light. I still don't have mine back yet. They have had it for almost 3 weeks at this point. I was told today I should get it back.

Wife has a ‘22 Edge that kept going into sleep mode. We thought it was the battery. The alternator was faulty.
They replaced alternator and v-belt under warranty. Working fine so far. So guessing they have a batch of bad alternators.
Sleep mode issues cross different years and models.
