Hey all, new to the forum. Just picked up a 2025 Explorer ST in Black. Have previous had a 2020 Platinum Explorer and 22 Edge ST Line. Just put about 600 miles on it. Looking forward to learning more about the ST and love seeing upgrades. Located in Pittsburgh PA, and always been a car enthusiast.

Welcome Aboard!!
You found an immaculate example; whoever had it before took great care of it.
Prior to joining the Explorer World, I previously had (4) four very unique and different Mustangs dating back to 2010. My Wife very appropriately identified my ST as "A Grown Up Mustang". Yes, you just open the door and slide yourself in; no more plopping down or God forbid, having to crawl out of a lowered Mustang (Both Shelby's had been lowered 1.5 inches below stock). Like I said, great choice!!
Many thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I see the military stripes below your names and want to thank you all for your service to our country. Definitely enjoying the first few days with my new "grown up Mustang" - haha! I have always liked the higher seat height and the ease of getting in and out of an Explorer, plus it would be a real pain to try and strap our two kayaks on the roof of a Mustang. I love that Rapid Red paint on the 25's in your photos- nice! Looking forward to the knowledge and fun to be shared on this site.

Thank you for your acknowledgements. When you start getting older you realize you're not the bullet proof stud you always thought you were. You don't heal as quickly, period. Anyway, these "Grown Up Mustangs" are the best "therapy session" you could ever want to go to both physically and emotionally. The visual of you with the two kayaks would be priceless. You do know in the late 60's first Ford and then some outside groups experimented with a "Mustang Station Wagon" AND a "Mustang Ranchero" to accommodate guys like you. I thought they were the perfect idea!!!!

Wow...those are some great vintage photos...I've spent most of my life around vintage Mustangs and these concepts feel like spotting an alien in the wild! Funny to see those GT styled steel wheels on the bottom image.
Guess we need to give Ford some credit for trying to be practical? Agree with your "bulletproof" comments too...
It's high time to enjoy the time that we have right? Cheers!
BrooseDaMoose:
That is exactly what I was talking about!! They had such clean lines and would have been very popular but a "Bean Counter" probably squashed the deal. The Mustang Ranchero was a similar deal; I don't think it was as attractive as the station wagon.
From my prior days in the Mustang and Falcon Clubs of America, the Falcon Station Wagon, Sedan Delivery (station wagon with NO rear side windows or seats), Ranchero AND Sprint convertibles ALL shared the same back 1/3 structure of the vehicle. As an example, my 1965 Falcon Ranchero had rear seat floorboard cut outs for your feet even though there was NO rear seat. Unfortunately, the wildly successful 1965 Mustangs spelled the end of these (4) four unique but very similar vehicles with the start of the 1966 model year. Check this out:
BrooseDaMoose: 100% agree about that Lightning Bolt and the F150 SVT Lightnings from the late 1990"s. They were NASTY!! And, I don't think we are wondering too far off topic because without the success of these rascals there would be NO Explorer ST's now.
ramzmac68: Many thx. Ford deserves a lot of credit here for venturing into the performance aspects of their vehicles and especially the Explorer. It was not that long ago that these modern day Explorers that everyone loves now were mired with the "Exploder" moniker or their gutless years leading up to 2020.

I do not have that package on my ride! Figured it may save a bit of weight. I like the feel inside with a bit more headroom. I have a panorama roof on my edge.
