Looking at buying an ST

Considering buying an ST and just wondering, with a twin turbo motor does the ST require that you use 93 octane gas?

93 is required to achieve the manufacturer's performance rating.
I use 93 every fill-up.

We use 93, but you can use 87. To get all the ponies, you need to use 93. After a couple of tanks, I can feel a difference when switching back and forth.

I use 93. One thing you should consider with a direct injection engine it installing a catch can.

Ford says minimum octane is 87. Fine to run on that. I run 91 because it seems to run better to me.

Run the highest available to you, 93 preferable. With 87 it will adjust and be fine but you will loose performance. If getting a tune , you will need to specify the tune for the highest you can get in your area.

AKI87 plus enough Boostane to increase it to around 90AKI.. Totally deserving of the handle 'Mr. Excess' that my wife of 38 years gave me, I have MUCH Boostane Premium purchased for my 93AKI Porsche Cayenne Turbo, so I add enough after I get home to increase it to around 90.. I think those 400 horses don't care, but I feel better about feeding it something 'better' then AKI87.

It’s worth noting for normal people who don’t drive the car too aggressively, 87 will be fine and Premium wouldn’t be worth the extra price.

oh and.. 93 always besides the few times I have a brain-lapse and select 87 thinking its my wife's vehicle since I gas hers as well.

When that happens I drive as fast as possible as often as possible to burn through the tank to re-fill it with the proper 93.

Very true, exactly how I feel. Just saying what is true about most ST owners, only a slim majority of the thousands of ST's sold are actual car enthusiasts.

True, I get disappointed when I see one and find a soccer mom driving it. I kind of die inside a little. But hey, it pumps up the sales numbers which we need to keep Ford making stuff like this. OR maybe its her husband's and she's just borrowing it. OR she's a car chick! Call me a bigot I don't care.

I keep a few bottles of octane boost in the back, just in case I have a brain lapse or am traveling somewhere that only has 91. With the ZFG 93 tune its kinda necessary.

The reverse can also be true! When I see a young, fit, macho, man driving an ST, I get a boost and feel like a mule-hung stud! LMAO
