True, I get disappointed when I see one and find a soccer mom driving it. I kind of die inside a little. But hey, it pumps up the sales numbers which we need to keep Ford making stuff like this. OR maybe its her husband's and she's just borrowing it. OR she's a car chick! Call me a bigot I don't care.
That’s what it ultimately comes down to. It’s a mass produced car, and if just the slim population of owners who bought it for what it is purchased it, the sales wouldn’t be enough for Ford to justify making it.

I’ve always used 91 or 93 even before it was tuned. Sure 87 works but 93 works better. I think Ford should have a special order Explorer ST that’s built, like they do with the Hennessy 500 Velociraptor Ranger. That thing must be crazy fast with 500 Hp!

I did 91 From Chevron because that's the best I can get without going to some far off station. I did that for about 4 tanks or so but then I filled up once when I still had a like a quarter tank and my bill was like $92, So it got a bit expensive again and so now I'm back down to 87. I'm an easy driver though, hardly go faster than 75 and I rarely punch it as I want to have this thing as long as possible. So I can't really feel the difference and ya really only lose like 10-15 HP anyway. Might even be less than that.

Well technically that’s aftermarket, but agree Ford left a lot of performance on the table. I can’t wait until I can get tuned, think that’s going to be awesome.

Yeah, technically. But you could say the same of a Shelby or a Foose. I know it's not a reality but I was thinking about something like SVT did with the Ranger back in 2002 when they stuffed in a supercharged 5.4L V8 in it, dropped the front a couple inches and added the 9.25 rear-end. It would have been the fastest production truck in it's class. If they could offer an SVT Explorer with like the upgraded internals, upgraded fuel system, bigger turbos, a better exhaust and the 10R80. Something like a lot of folks have done with the ST's with all aftermarket parts. Okay, time to wake up! Back to the topic.
