I've been in the field for 14 years and I don't feel that way at all. I hope she finds something else to do that isn't so frustrating for her.

As for the other situation with the gal that took her life.....I can't even imagine how tough that must have been to go through and deal with. My condolences.

I am very proud of my accomplishments. What have you two done may I ask? I served my country for over 15 years as DOD contractor on six of the 7 continents and helped several young people in my community straighten out their lives and become productive members of society. If my posts are too long, too difficult/boring to comprehend or simply annoy the pair of you, then please put me on ignore. Just like I plan, after this post, to do for the two of you. Just do not ridicule. It is not cool. I admire and gravitate to those who have accomplished great things and are even more successful than I. I hope that I may learn from them and make me become a better/smarter person so that I can pass it forward. I am never jealous or envious. Jealousy and Envy are never good for anyone.

I have no dog in this hunt but being a DOD contractor isn’t really “serving your country”. That statement should be reserved for our service members that signed that blank check...not an overseas contractor that collected fat checks.

I know it may sound cliche', but my greatest accomplishment thus far has been raising two well rounded successful kids (Lauren & Jordan). Daughter recently graduated with a Biology degree from James Madison University (six months early) and works in the radiological health sciences field. My son graduates this year with an Engineering degree from Old Dominion University. He goes to school full-time and works as a Design Engineer at Ingersoll Rand. Never had an ounce of trouble with either kid. They probably didn't want to deal with my wrath if they caused any trouble ;-)

I'm really puzzled about you. You seem to take things personally no matter how small. I don't know you. You don't know me. It's NOT personal. If you're going to block people who don't agree with you- don't you understand that it's equivalent to a 10 year old putting their fingers in their ears and shouting "I can't hear you"? If you are so insecure, why are you on a public forum? Perhaps your own podcast would be better?

Can’t say I’ve ever saved someone’s life or was involved not being able to. I’d agree the DOD guys are serving their country. The vast majority of our troops don’t see action and perform many of the duties the DOD folks do. My father was a Marine pilot in Nam and son served in the Corp driving and fighting in Iraq. Me, I got bad knees!

Besides being the trophy husband of a fantastic gal for 40 years, raising two wonderful kids and lucky enough to have three wonderful grandkids, my greatest achievement was breaking 90 in golf. What a feeling. Kinda like gunning the ST getting on the highway...

However, away from that family, I'd say having the privilege to serve in our Air Force for more than 20 years gave me numerous chances for "accomplishments". My 8+ years of "operations" were spent as a launch control officer for Minuteman II and III ICBM's in Montana and Wyoming. (So when the politicians talk about who's better suited to handle the nuclear launch codes, I can look at my hands and say "well, I was ...."). The remaining 12+ years were spent primarily dealing with the media as a Public Affairs Officer. Worked on some "low profile" programs like the MX (Peacekeeper ICBM) testing, space shuttle, liaison with the Japanese Air Self Defense Force, and numerous accidents and incidents over the years!! Never a dull day. And I am thankful for each and every one of them!!

(My favorite "joke" - I spent 8 years holding the codes and keys to WWIII with the capability to wipe out millions of people ... and 12 years dealing with the media/reporters. Guess which job was MORE stressful? [Hint: It was NOT WWIII!])

That was always my "official" answer as well. Famous story about that DOD "neither confirm nor deny" policy ... back in the day, a reporter asked General Curtis LeMay, then Strategic Air Command's CO, if the bombers sitting on alert had nukes on board. Gen. LeMay's answer was brilliant: "What do you think they're carrying, sonny? Popcorn?"

Still rains ... A LOT!! But, we are finally edging into Spring so the sun has been out at least once or twice in the past week!! .

Not only did the bridge that was rebuilt in the late 40's stay in place, but there's a new one in parallel!! One way on each one with 4 lanes allowed each way!! Of course we are back to paying tolls until well after I am supposed to die!!
