I could not find any any information on replacing wheel studs on explorers ST so decided to post this quick write up. I cut my studs to accommodate for 19mm bora spacers and oem wheels. New wheels don't need spacers, thicker at the hub and were only getting 5-6 full rotations on the lug nut.
1. Wheel (21mm), brake caliper (17mm), caliper bracket (18mm), and dust shield (10mm) off
2. Knock exiting studs off with a mallet, shorter studs will come out at many different angles
3. Install new studs, there are 2 positions where they can slide in without any effort.
4. Use lug stud setting tool and a nut or a few washers to set the stud. I flattened a spare lug nut and used 9 grade 8 1/2" washers to set mine with some grease between the nut and a washer.
5. Reassemble.
Total time - 30 min per side.
