Yes, this is subjective, but there are plenty objective testing metrics in this department. We winter test on ST's in the US and with a Tahoe in Sweden and the metrics don't lie. If you don't mind ponying up for them, the X-Ice Snow SUV is the best overall winter tire available that will fit the stock wheels [it's also just the best overall winter tire], but they ain't cheap. They do have one limitation in that they're only speed rated "t", so maxed at 118mph. This is the reason they're in the studless ice and snow category and not in the performance winter category. The performance winter category offers some good options, but know that anything in the performance winter category falls just a little short in our testing to studless ice and snow tires, because the manufacturers are trading a little grip for that higher speed rating. The best tire that fits the stock wheels in the performance winter tire category is the Vredestein Wintrac Pro and it does have a friendlier price point.
Depending on how much snow you'll think you'll face, there are some solid performing 3PMSF GTAS tires that will that fit as well. The Vredestein Quatrac Pro tested fairly close to the X-Ice Snow in all areas of objective testing save for ice stopping distance [the Michelin stopped 20ft shorter] and average lap times [9sec behind]. But they are a 4-season tire so if you ever needed to throw them on outside of the colder months, you wouldn't be prematurely wearing them out.
