Wireless CarPlay

If i'm not mistaken, wireless carplay came out in 2017. And I think BMW was charging a yearly subscription for that feature at that time. When I bought my 2020 in 2019, I was hoping it would have wireless Carplay--my wife's 2021 Audi did.
Yes 2017 is the first year I saw it on any car. (BMW X5M) and you had to activate it in Idrive for 400 dollars one time payment. I think we were all hoping for it but not having it and the price/speed of adapters are now so cheap and fast that it’s a non issue.

What are you talking about? Wireless carplay was not available before 2025 on any Explorer.

It’s really not as common as you think it is on vehicles.
It was my ex-wife's maybe I'm recalling incorrectly. However, the point remains:
Wireless carplay it was in every crappy rental car except one (sub $30k likely) I've rented since before COVID (I went through five or six while my 250 was being repaired alone in '22.)

So, $60k, "Premium tech" package is $1,295, ST High (401A) is $5,890. Functionally useless stuff like the "ST" projection from the side mirrors, and yet *I* need to go spend $25 to implement a tech that's over five years old. Makes perfect sense.

I see you have a 2024. Big mistake. I'd be pissed too... at myself. There's going to be a lot of MY2024 buyer's remorse when the 2025s come out in about a month's time with so much better tech and interior. You should have waited. You might have even saved some money if you paid $60k for your 2024.

Unless you have a horizontal screen Car play is useless, I do and just use Bluetooth for my phone connection. Very disappointed with Ford, decided to Buy a Silverado RCSB instead of the F150 that I put a deposit on and ordered.
RCSB - Regular Cab Short Bed, my 2001 XLT RCSB Sport has been my daily driver for 14 years, time to upgrade.

I didn't have a lot of say in the matter. $8500 in taillights got stolen out of my 250 in a gated garage. They tried again less than two days after I got it back, but I'd put in "security" screws and changed my parking spot to back up to a concerete wall rather than steel cables. It was cheaper to sell the truck than to move. I've driven some real downmarket stuff in my life, but I'm shocked at how Ford allocates upmarket equipment to an Edge, but not the ST trim, etc.

When I ordered my 22 250, it took six or seven months. The Bronco took almost a year, and I didn't take delivery. I couldn't keep paying insurance deductibles and driving a rental for that long. I'm not a big chaser of "coulda woulda shoulda." It was amusing to do the bicycle thing of driving my SD to the dealer using Boy Scout hand signals, though.

I read all the comments in this thread and considering getting a wireless carplay dongle. Blows my mind that my 2022 F-150 Lariat had wireless carplay and my 2024 F-150 platty has it too.

I'm considering a few but one of the top ones I'm looking at is one of the three below. What's everyone's recommendations so far? Apple Music, Waze and phone calls are the 3 main I use day to day basis.

--side note; ST has a big "iPad" factory screen

AutoSky Wireless CarPlay Adapter

or

2024 CarlinKit 5.0

or

OTTOCAST Wireless CarPlay Adapter 2024

Works good with the big "ipad" screen?
works the same as when you plug in your phone. It’s a wireless adapter. Nothing changes with the functionality or layout, you don’t need a cord connected to your phone.

Perfect, just wanted to double check to make sure! To verify, this is the dongle you recommend; which one of the two is correct link from Amazon? -> Autosky Wireless Carplay Dongle or Autosky Carplay

There's a few AutoSky ones, just want to make sure its the correct one!

Yea that’s the one! They are the same just a different case. Functionally identical so which ever is cheaper.
