Man, y’all are tough! You do realize EVERYTHING is on back order right? Like RTD+‘s like nationally right? This is not a surprise, and should not be to ANYBODY living in this world currently. Y’all need to take it down a step.

ZFG is a one man crew, and he also has a full time job and a family. Adam works his butt off for the tuning community because he loves it. 5 Star is a whole shop.

That being said, Adam@ZFG isn’t a little better on this platform, he is A LOT better, especially if we are talking vs 5Star! He dials in every tune to your needs. His trans shifting is spot on, and VERY few people tune for Ethanol as well as he does. If you want the best have patience. The tune and hardware is worth the wait!

If you want something good, sometimes you have to have a little patience.

I think everyone knows that everything around the world is backed up. However, if you are back-ordered then make sure you let your customers know up-front on the website before they place an order or if they've already placed an order before you had a chance to put up a notice then send a follow-up email explaning the situation.

With that said, there is nobody better than Adam/ZFG and for those of you who ordered and are waiting - believe the rest of us when we say it'll be worth the wait! :cool:
There was definitely a fair amount of whining above. There needed to be a bit of a reality check. To expect things right away in todays market is just unrealistic across the board. Sometimes also, the back order isn’t known until the last moment. ZFG doesn’t manufacture the RTD+. Paying for it gets you on the list for when the product is available.

Ease back, pal. Didn't realize multiple users diplomatically discussing similar issues on a specific product was 'whining'. You clearly didn't read the reply to your confrontational post where the reasoning of our discussion was explained... if you're back-ordered on the literal one device you market your product with, it would be beneficial to your buyers to make them aware that is the case. I don't know why anyone would just assume a product is back-ordered just because of the current state of the world when there is nothing alluding to it on the website. That's asinine to suggest. I'm assuming you're unaffected by this issue, so it is easy to criticize us from the outside, I guess.

Again, no one is bashing ZFG. We obviously trusted his product enough to invest into it. Progression of anything would never occur if not for constructive criticism. That's all this was. Your comments are quite unnecessary and serve nothing useful to the thread. Stay mad, though.

I work in the Technology field. Everything I order and do is affected by the supply chain issues. Not just chips, but raw materials too. The expectation currently should be that it WILL be delayed, not that it will come quickly. That IS the reality.

Your post above with Adam’s message was very informative and on par with how he handles business. As soon as he knows he passes it on to his customers and people in the community.

Moving on. You will be VERY happy with his product! He does great work!

From reading and following ZFG posts since I got my ST in January, 2021, this isn't the first time Adam had to wait on RTD's? I seem to recall these same discussions before...

Yeah, just like anything else right now. Supply is limited. The RTD+ is in demand right now, because it is an excellent product. The issue is the MPVI2+ is also in demand right now because of HPTuners getting in to the PowerSports market. They internal hardware is almost identical. So supply and demand.

So you still have a condescending tone to your reply and are seemingly smug in your response. Don't act like you're the only one affected by the supply chain -- which no one is arguing with you about. Without getting into detail, I'm a Healthcare practitioner. Do you think I haven't dealt with supply-chain issues in the last 2+ years?! Because I certainly have, and it may have had dire consequences on your loved ones -- though I hope for your sake that it hasn't. It is great you're a self-proclaimed expert in the tech field, but your whole argument still doesn't touch on the fact that some of us who spent a great deal of money weren't informed ahead of time that we were going to be (greatly) affected by the back-order issues that have come about on the product we have purchased. You continue to be defensive and blow up an issue that seemingly doesn't effect you. I posted the response from Adam, which was great for clarification purposes, but once again, doesn't hide the fact that it should've been relayed prior to prospective and current customers. If you aren't either, then you should probably shut up and move on. That said, I expect you'll have another reply that continues to not take into account the argument that the rest of us have. If you want, I can show proof of the things I claim, as could the rest of the users in this thread.

Same boat my man! It's certainly okay to be curious on the status of a product you paid a lot of money for and not recieve clarification on prior to someone else posting it for you. It's just lame when people try to jump on you for feeling that way. But yea, I'm with you on being excited for the product when it arrives! I know it will be worth the wait!

For what it is worth, I'm not American, but I get that this world largely feels like everything is on-demand, though I don't personally feel that way.

Hi everyone! I sense Adam/ZFG is very busy these days and I have a bunch of questions that I would like an answer on before I pull the trigger on the order. I am going to ask them here, in case some of you already know and I will go to Adam after. Thanks in advance for your help!

1. I am located in Quebec, Canada. We easily have access to 91 Octane Fuel, but one brand offers 94. I am trying to always put the 94 when possible, but when driving to some remote locations, only 91 is available.
1.1 - I’d like the 93 Tune to get the most out of it. How would this run with 94?
1.2 - What if I have the 93 Tune and can only put 91 fuel?
2. It is recommended on the website to not « tow » without a proper tow tune. I have a fishing boat I need to tow… I 90% of the time do very short distance and the weight of my boat is below 3,500lbs. Do I really need another tune or the 93 Tune would be « ok ». If not - what is the process of going to the Tow tune and then back to Race tune?
3. How do we flash back to stock if we go to the dealer? Is there a cost associated to put the tune back again after the visit to the dealer?
4. I would be planning on a Whipple intercooler and possibly an air intake to take the most out of the tune. I do not want to change the exhaust, in all transparency, I personnaly don’t like the sound of those at all. Would not changing the exhaust restricts the tune too much for maximum gains?
5. What will be the feeling when driving under the Normal Mode. Can we call the normal mode the Wife mode and the Sport mode the tune mode! :D

I may be able to answer some of your questions.
I have tuned 12 vehicles in the past (a variety of makes). I also use Petro-Can 94 in my vehicles as often as possible. In the past, I would usually start with a 93 tune, and then submit logs to the tuner who would then tweak the tune for the 94 octane fuel. Most often there was a slight tweak in the tune over and above the 93 starting tune. There was never any problem driving with 91 gas if only that was available, however, I never tracked the vehicle with the inferior gas. For daily driving, it was always fine.
As for flashing back to stock before taking it to the dealer for service, that was something I never did. It's entirely up to you, but I would always speak to the service manger ahead of time letting him/her know that it was my intention to tune the vehicle, and to ask if that posed any problem. I've never had anyone tell me they would void my warranty, some thanked me for being upfront with them ahead of time, and some even encouraged me to do it. Some made recommendations as to possible tuners, and some asking to drive the tuned vehicle to see how much of a difference it made. If you eventually do a Whipple and an intake, it will be plainly obvious that you've modded the vehicle anyway.
As for the towing question, that would probably be best to ask the tuner directly.

I DO NOT recommend towing tuned. We know the 10R60 Trans can be a little picky. Just drop to Stock when towing. With the TDN app and your phone, it only takes a few minutes while you are hooking up your trailer.

As far as the dealer, like Rad said, talk to the Service guys. I always return to Stock, because if there is a factory reflash, it will not cause errors on the dealer system that get logged with Ford. That is the deal I have with my service manager.

As far as fuel, it is my understanding that the 94 in Canada is E0, as in Ethanol free. That is the opposite of what you want to run. These EcoBoosts LOVE ethanol. The cooling properties are very beneficial. Adam can actually get more consistent power out of 91E10 over 94E0. He has said this himself. Ethanol free fuel is bad power wise for these. So if your 94 is Ethanol free(E0), don’t waste your money. Save and run 91E10, and have Adam write a tune for it. He has tuned many Canadian customers, so he will have no issues.

Also, an Auto Octane tune is doable. It won’t have as much power as a dedicated 93 tune, but will give more flexibility on Octane.

Power is the same in all modes, but throttle mapping and shifting can be customized across modes. My Normal drove like factory except at WOT, and some of ZFG’s trans tweaking to clean up some of the factory issues. In Sport, it was aggressive, exactly how you want it to be!

Do a lot of you guys talk to your service techs and managers about tuning before doing so? Not saying you ask permission but do you run it by them and see their thoughts on it. Or just keep it quiet and hopefully the actual service techs don’t care. I can’t really see why they would care but I’m not sure

Some dealers are mod friendly, some are not. Some Service writers will look the other way, as long as you don’t make it hard on them. I think a conversation is always helpful! Pay to Play…

Edit: I also meant to ask, if I understand properly, there will be a module in the obd port with which my phone would be connected to via bluetooth and in less than 10 minutes I can swap from tuned to stock and vice versa?

Loki, just an FYI, our Petro-Can 94 octane fuel is an E10 fuel (clearly indicated at the pumps). I have seen posts in other forums that claim it's actually an E15 fuel, but that is unsubstantiated.

Awesome stuff. Not a Canadian, but have seen many pics of 94 E0 on several EcoBoost and VW groups. Just wanted to make sure it was being discussed. Ethanol is good stuff in an EcoBoost!

Would love to have access to 94E10 FYI! So great stuff!
