Map Update

I recently did a map update on my in-laws Escape, for around the same price you mentioned, but it really didn't add much. Living in the Houston area where the roads change so much in a year and the maps basically being at least a year old when they are available, doesn't seem to be worth the money when you can use Google Maps.

You still need to download the Map on a USB drive and install on the radio.

I just updated to Sync v3.4.23188. And then checked for a map update.
I always buy the USB thumb drive to do the map update.
before it was $40.00 + shipping today it costed me $149.00 + shipping? Anybody know why it went up so much?
they are also offering 5year subscription service where they will auto ship updates to you for $269.00. But I’m likely going to trade in for a “24” when they come out.

The $40 thumb drive is the price to send it to you while they still allow you to download it for free. They give you a free download or a $40 USB drive for a given period of time.
I was under the impression that the free download was a one-time deal but they've downloaded to me at least twice at no charge while on auto-update.
The $149 is the price when the free updates are used up. I believe many manufacturers are moving to a subscription model and MAPS won't be the only feature. Pretty soon you'll be paying to use your massaging seats or better yet your headlights.
