I has an opportunity to drive my department's Hybrid PIU on Saturday and it is a POS: it is heavier than the gas PIU and you can feel it in the turns, the drivetrain is clunky when shifting between the gas motor and electric and there is also a very annoying delay when you hit the gas pedal and when the vehicle actually starts moving. The gas mileage is not that much better than the 2017 PIU I use and I drive about 150 miles in a shift and idle a couple of hours. The Hybrid is a School Resource Officers car and is a take home squad and is not used as a regular patrol squad. 3/4 of tank in my squad will give me about 200 plus miles until the low fuel light comes on, per the display photo below this squad has a range of about 171 miles and this is calculated over 707 hours and 5257 miles. The plus side it has more interior room.
I will add a photo of my what my squad mpg/fuel is over the course of 3 shifts starting Thursday thru Saturday for a comparison.
