Many people guess at what they are towing, vice actually weighing the set up
Maybe ford took that into account ???
I am sure bean counters were involved to a great degree as well
That makes no sense to me. If people are guessing, what does lowering the capacity 600 pounds change - Absolutely nothing since people are guessing anyway. On the other point: Warranty claims = Yes, beancounters were involved.

Just gleaning info from the engineer
Personally.. big difference in 5k low profile item being towed, than a 5k brick shape rv or box trailer. Using a short vehicle.
Avoiding duplication in ratings that other vehicles are rated to tow was clear from the interviewed engineer
People can tow whatever they want
The 3.0 drive train is not the weak spot,
