Winter is upon us, many drag strips have closed for the season and it's too cold to safely make Dragy runs.

So now's a good time to put all 1/4 mile times for ST's with intact engine warranties into one place.

FMIC's, 3rd party tunes, etc. are out.

My best two runs are 13.15 and 13.21 with the Ford Performance Tune:

Technically, engines with bolt on parts are still under warranty. A warranty is intact until it expires, regardless of the modifications done to the vehicle.

That makes no sense at all.

What? Absolutely Not true. You are modifying the vehicle and changing aspects of the vehicle. Granted, they would have to directly attribute the problem to the aftermarket part but that could be easy to prove. I bolt on upgraded turbos and the engine goes bad because of over boost they are not responsible for it.

Technically speaking, the entire warranty isn’t voided or any other term meaning “entirety”. Only the covered components that may fail due to any modification thereof. In the case of a power modification, the dealer/Ford can deny ANY driveline warranty claim and it will likely hold up in court if it went that far.

The OP fire starter guy is just a douch, so you’ll be better off just ignoring his posts.

Your warranty is still intact, regardless. I’m using the exact terminology as OP. Ford may choose to not honor the warranty if they feel damage was caused by aftermarket parts, but the warranty still exists and functions.

I get what his goal with the post is, but the way it was worded was incorrect.

I have had half a dozen heavily modded cars (Mustangs) and can say from experience, unless the aftermarket part you install is the direct culprit for failure, your warranty will be honored. Ford dealers normally do not want to invest time to attempt to disprove OEM parts failure by an aftermarket as there are multiple variables.

Now, if you built a motor, stroked it, added massive turbos or a huge Roots/twin screw blower and you throw a rod, that's a no brainer. If you install an intake and something on the engine fails, an intake won't be the cause in nearly every scenario.

Yes, common sense should prevail, but we all know…

I don't believe common sense exists anymore, lol.
Uncommon sense is very rare.

Your friend need to learn that applies to things like fluids, filters, brake pads, etc.
It does not give you carte blanche to do whatever mod you want and it was never intended for aftermarket performance parts. Ford knows that game and they’re better at it than you are…they can easily connect your aftermarket parts to a failure. Once they do…game over.

I agree with you! his response back in the day…it’s a grey area …it will cost more for them to figure it out, fight me, hire lawyers… than it will just to fix it.
im not a lawyer and have no interest in going down the legal road over warranty issues.
He was always of the mind set- I do what I want until you force me/prove I cant!
He used to go on tirades about how claimed performance aftermarket parts helped with performance but didn’t do what they actually said because it was all a marketing ploy.
if GM wants to prove it caused the failure then they need to have independent testing done to prove it it performed at that level and the motor needs to be independently tested to prove it couldn’t handle said increase in performance… on and on.
he recently passed “doing whatever he wanted”
We all were amazed he lasted into his 50’s.
@UNBROKEN, did I read that you are a BMX guy that is over 6’5 or so?
Custom ride?
I’m a former mountain biker/adventure racer/trigeek…. Used to watch my friends kids race BMX and never saw any big guys…
Anyway, kinda sidetrack the thread a bit.

You have things backwards…they have a wall of lawyers ready for stuff like this. They aren’t fixing anything….they can say your aftermarket performance part caused the issue and that’s it. Then it’s on you to pay a lawyer to fight them while your car sits unfixed for months or longer. They don’t have to bring in anyone independent to figure it out…it doesn’t work like that.
And yes to the BMX stuff although these days I just cruise around with friends. I’m too old to fall off anymore. lol
I’m having a new Gary Turner (GT) frame built right now and I’m collecting parts for a new build. Custom BMX is another hobby that costs way more than it should.

HE had it backwards, I get how it works. I have to deal with insurance and lawyers enough at my job…
Friend of mine actually become a field tester for Gary Fisher mountain bikes, he kept breaking the bottom brackets at the weld, they couldn’t figure out how a slim 5’8 guy managed to crack every frame we give him, he did this for years. I can imagine you’ve had some issues…?
Falling off isn’t the worst part, it’s the recovery as we get older that sucks.

I’ve been lucky…haven’t broken anything lately but overbuild for my size to be safe. 22mm Ti spindles on my cranks, heavier chains…whatever little things I can do to beef things up.
