My 2020 ST started knocking 2 days ago on morning cold start.

Got my EcoBeast back yesterday, and so far it feels great. New engine, turbos, cats, and a lot of hoses replaced. I had 71608 miles on the old motor.

Glad you got it back. Still wish they were more forthcoming with what exactly happened to the original.

Thank you, I talked with service writer and he said maybe i just got a bad one. But the low warning and then just stopped. New engine will have to earn my trust back

Well she's on her way back to dealership for small coolant leak and smell inside of vehicle.

Well after 40+ days got my ST back new engine, turbos, coolant hoses. Runs better but very bad coolant leaks that they can seem to find. Been back twice, so i have to find the leak once the weather breaks.

Sounds like you need to trade it in.
2020 models don’t seem too reliable according to everyone here that has one and complained about theirs.
I hope the dealership can find the issue on the coolant leak.

I don't believe the 2020 models to be significantly less reliable than any other model year. They've simply been around longer, with more miles, wear and tear, factors in. Things break as a product ages and more users are talking about a vehicle that's been on the road longer. That's the way it goes on forums.

The truth is that some of the problems that have existed on the Explorer ST's from the get-go are still here. That said, there wasn't much talk about struts, strut hats/bearings being an issue on the early models, given that, I'd assume other problems can creep in.

The factory warranty on the powertrain for the 2020 explorer ended December 2024. Know I get to take my explorer to my buddy at Goodyear to fix now. Since I don't have extended warranty. Might be trading this 2020 in for 2025. Gotta save up a big down payment again to bring that payment down in the $700s
