Is it just me or does everyone's air recirculation turn off after 5 minutes? Mine is methodical. When I turn it on, it turns off in exactly 5 minutes. What's the point of having that button if it doesn't work? Or maybe it's something to adjust in the settings?

Yep all of the newer Fords do that. Apparently it’s is because “fresh air” is needed or something. Really annoying and no way to turn off.

So, the 2020 is considered new?
Yes, it is annoying especially when the "fresh air" is not so fresh.

Yep, anything from about mid-2010s to present has this annoying feature.

It's because the last generation Explorer had claims of exhaust/carbon monoxide leaking into the cabin from the rear hatch. Police officers claimed to be knocked out and caused fatal or near fatal car accidents. They had a recall and I even heard that the exhaust tailpipes being turned downward on the current generation is also for this reason.I had a Toytoa Camry rental car that was the opposite. I would turn off recirculating and every time I restarted the Toyota, the button would be set to recirculate. Max AC also automatically turns on recirculating on most vehicles. Another explanation is that recirculating air in winter or heavy rain can cause the windows to fog up, which is a visibility hazard.

Not the only annoying reset feature. What about the drive mode changing back to Normal every time you restart. Other brands alloy you to leave it in the drive mode you select. Also, the auto stop/start resets to on and can't be turned off permanently like other makes.

The drive mode doesn’t really bother me. The auto stop/start is annoying but can be disabled with a tune or aftermarket device.

And they also do it on the F150 and it is the most annoying thing going down the road and all of a sudden a bunch of soup wagon, diesel truck, or paper plant funk go right up your nose.

They have a module for this like they do for the Auto Start/Stop. Drive Mode Memory Module

Sounds like something they'd be able to do with a tune.
No one has been able to yet and if they can’t do it by now I doubt they will. Maybe with the 25’s of the ever crack the encryption.

The 2020-24s can have it tuned out, but since the 2025's cant be tuned a module is all that you can do to make it turn off automatically.

So it always starts in the mode you left it in? That’s what I was referring to.
