ST Model Noises

Hello,

I've had my ST for about 7 months now and I've been noticing noises from the drivers' side, front/side area of the car, as its parked in the garage. The best way I can describe the sound is like a grinding settling sound.


Anyone else experience this and have an idea what it is?

Does it only happen after you drive it? Could be the sound from the exhaust cooling.

Not always after a drive.... doesn't sound like it's cooling down either... best way to describe it, is that it sounds like it's about to transform (yes, the cartoon)

Other than after driving it, when does the noise happen?

That sound happens before and after starting, when you open the door or get in and after turning off engine. Everyone has reported this sound and it's normal.

Normal. Electronics turning off/cycling. Sometimes even when you haven’t driven the car it will randomly do that. If you have your FordPass set up, after the car has been sitting for a while, open your app and press the refresh button. You’ll hear the same things happening.

As a "for instance", the radiator has louvers that open and close to control cooling airflow. They work even after you shut down, opening, if they were closed, as the engine cools down.

Wow I did not know this one! That's awesome. She was so pretty the other day, I couldn't resist!

Those louvers actually are for aerodynamics. When the temps are low enough, the louvers close to decrease drag.

I have had mine for 8-months and it can be sitting in the driveway for a couple hours or more and all of a sudden it starts making a noise from under the drivers side. The 2 issues I have had is the battery going dead if it sets for a few days, once I jump to start it seems fine for a while. It went dead the first few days I had it and dealer replaced under warranty even though they could not identify anything causing an issue. the other is the chrome chipping off the plastic on the window switches.

My thought is it's taking pictures of where it's parked and the surrounding area and uploading them somewhere via cellular network. Bet you always hear the clicks when you walk into the garage or some other movement happens like the garage door being opened cause that's when I hear them.
